My Garbage Disposal Stinks!

My garbage disposal stinks. And, I know what you’re thinking, “it’s a garbage disposal! It isn’t supposed to smell good!” You’re right, it isn’t supposed to smell likely freshly-cut flowers but I shouldn’t be walking into my home getting hit by a wall of rotten food smell, and you shouldn’t either. But, it just seemed like the garbage disposal always fell to the bottom of my list. Or it did, until I realized what exactly was creating that awful smell.

Your Garbage Disposal is the leading bacteria trap in your home!

Doing research one day on the best way to clean my garbage disposal, I came across a few articles that talked about why food smells. It sounded as if my disposal was setting my family up for some terrible risks. Garbage disposals are one of the leading bacteria farms in any home. Kids don’t properly run the disposal, food remnants get stuck, and residue builds up. That doesn’t seem like such a terrible thing does it? Yes, some things get stuck, but it isn’t the end of the world. That’s what I thought! But, I was most certainly very wrong. My research showed me that it isn’t the food remnants and residue that smell; that smell is the bacteria growing on it. Ew!

Grab Green's Garbage Disposal Freshener gets rid of bad smells and prevents clogs so your garbage disposal doesn't stink

An unclean Garbage Disposal can lead to the growth of mold spores

As bacteria begins to grow and take over your disposal the smell gets stronger and can spread to the whole of your sink. Not only that, but since the disposal is warm and moist, not properly cleaning and disinfecting can lead to the growth of mold spores.  I found that disgusting! Not only are my hands down there every day, but I’m washing my dishes in that sink’s water… water that was being contaminated by bacteria and possibly mold! That’s when I knew I had to make a change in my cleaning routine and make my garbage disposal number one. I didn’t want to eat off of bacteria laden dishes, and I certainly didn’t want my kids suffering from bacteria borne illnesses that were easy to get rid of.

So, I went to the store and I bought several different kinds of disposal cleaners. I tried sprays, powders, and even those little balls that you drop down and grind up. It all seemed to work at first, but I then began to realize that a little cleaner wasn’t enough, I needed more to keep the drain smelling fresh. And, even more worrying, some of the cleaners had very strong chemical smells, making me worry about what the CLEANERS were transferring to my dishes. That’s when I decided to switch to Grab Green garbage disposal cleaner. The brand is effective, safe for use around kids and pets, and doesn’t use any harsh chemicals to keep the disposal clean.

In three great scents, the product is both effective and eco-responsible. It removes grime, cuts those nasty odors, and stops build up helping to reduce the chance of future clogs.
