1 cup brown sugar
1 stick unsalted butter
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 large egg
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
1 ¾ cups flour
¾ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
8oz dark chocolate chips – I love the organic Dagoba brand of Chocodrops.
Sea salt flakes – just enough to sprinkle on top
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
The first grouping of ingredients…
In a mixer, add butter, sugars (all three of them) and mix until combined.
Add the egg and vanilla and mix.
The dough should look like this…
In a separate bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and salt.
If you’re anything like me using flour automatically results in a mess. I can’t help but fling some at my daughter when she passes me in the kitchen! For my little flour messes I choose to use Grab Green All Purpose Cleaner! One spray and a paper towel or cloth is all I need to clean up!
Add the dry ingredients to the wet dough, in three batches, mixing slowly after each addition.
Gently fold in the CHOCOLATE CHIPS!
Using an ice cream scoop, the small one 1.5 oz version, scoop dough onto parchment paper lined baking sheets.
Sprinkle, lightly, the flake salt. I was a little heavy handed with the salt so don’t do that. ?. Bake cookies for exactly 12 minutes.
Hot out of the oven…
